Kim’s Story… prayer in everyday problems

I was looking for my driver’s license. I always keep it in a small maroon case in the glove compartment where I keep my car manual and other things like the registration and insurance cards… but the small maroon case was gone! The thing was, I really didn’t know how long the case had been missing, but I knew it was someplace in the house. I looked through the whole house, even the basement. I practically turned the whole house upside down, but there was no maroon case.

So then on Tuesday evening I started to pray. I asked God to please help me find that little maroon case. I prayed this because nothing is so small to You, not even a little thing like my lost maroon case. I knew that God honors our prayers and always answers them for our best even though we might not get exactly what we asked for.

Wednesday morning, I looked again and again in the house. My husband said that we should just apply for a new license. We were both tired of looking. So, I said, “all right, but before we apply for a new one, I would like to stop by a couple of places where I suspect it may have been lost.” My husband agreed.

We first stopped by a bank where I had to show my driver’s license to verify my identity. That was last year though, and the bank couldn’t help me. Next stop was a car dealer where six months ago we had a new transmission installed in our car. Three men were working at the service counter. In the middle of the counter, I saw that familiar little maroon case. I asked one of the men at the counter, “does this case belong to anyone?” He looked at me and at the same time opened the case and read my name aloud!

The strange thing was that after the passage of the six months they had found the case, only two days before we visited the shop. The case was found on Tuesday, the same day I had begun to pray! How awesome is that! God works in mysterious ways.

Six months ago, when we had dropped the car off for service, the dealer used a van to transport us home. Evidently, I left the case in the van. No one noticed it until the dealership cleaned out the vehicle six months later. It was in the van that whole time and in that period, I hadn’t needed it. Well, what more can I say, other than our God is awesome and really provided that assurance. God shows me He listens to our prayers! I hope this story inspires and assures you that God is with us at all times.
