Pat’s Story… the empty bus stop
I was a new bride, living in a new state, and on my way to my new job. My college degree was in secondary education, but there were no job openings in the middle of the year. I missed “my kids.”
As I was driving, I saw a group of middle school students. They waved and laughed, and I waved back… a bit sad that I had no students to teach. Every day as I drove to work, we would wave to each other. I began saying my “flash prayers” for them each day… short prayers for their health, for a good day, and especially for protection from middle school perils. Protection was a common theme in those prayers.
The smiles, waves, and prayers continued each morning for several months. Then, the unimaginable happened. I dozed off on my way to work and was awakened by the car hitting the curb. It was then I realized I was over the curb at the bus stop of “my students.” Fortunately, it was Spring vacation, so no one was there.
My prayers of protection for these students were answered. Little did I know that the protection would be from me.
